Our Story as RHEMA
Origins & Early Days
RHEMA Compassion was born out of a burden and vision in 2013 when our founder encountered many street children in Nairobi. Instead of giving money, he would take them meals in hotels, listen to their stories, learn why they had ended up on the streets. Over time, this compassion moved from occasional acts to a weekly commitment: feeding programs, meeting children in their own environments. By 2016 the work became more structured: Sunday services among street children, weekly feeding on Tuesdays, and building community trust.
Growth & Formalization
With growing support from friends, donors, churches, volunteers and local partners, what started as grassroots caring became an organized ministry. In 2018 the “Street Church Ministry” was officially launched at Central Park, Nairobi. Activities expanded: evangelism, counselling, talent shows, clothing donations, among others. Recognizing the need for a formal structure to scale the work and ensure accountability, Rhema Compassion was registered as an organisation on 10 September 2021.

Why Your Support Matters
Every day in Nairobi, hundreds of children wake up hungry, without safe shelter, and with little access to education or healthcare. For them, even the simplest things — a meal, a uniform, a kind word — can change everything.
Your support:
Feeds a child who would otherwise go hungry.
Keeps children in school by covering fees, books, and uniforms.
Provides urgent medical care when families cannot afford it.
Restores dignity by showing love, compassion, and belonging.
When you give to RHEMA, you are not just making a donation — you are changing a life story.

Our Genesis
The chairman and founder of Rhema Compassion Organisation had a call and burden for street children and families from 2013. He started by taking street children for meals in hotels instead of giving them money. He also asked them why they ended up in the streets. From 2016, he started taking the street children to attend Sunday Church Services. He also started a weekly feeding program on Tuesdays. He would prepare the food in his house and take to them in the streets. In this, he had the support of friends, well-wishers and some churches. The uspport came in kind (including food, clothes and services) and also in monetary form. In 2018, the Street Church Ministry was born at Central Park-Nairobi. Some of the activities that took place included evangelism, counselling, feeding program, talent shows and distribution of clothes. In the same year, he started the process of registration of an umbrella organization for the ministry to the less fortunate. The process culminated in the registration of Rhema Compassion Organisation on 10th September 2021. Between 2016-2021, the founder networked and partnered with some orphanages and rehabiltation centres to help with the street children ministry. Several orphanages came in hardy, for instance, Mogra Orphanage in Kiambu road took in 1-day old to 2-year old children; Mwangaza Rehabilitation.
